  From 1981-1982 Managing the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony for Dr. Lynn Peters at University of North Carolina School of the Arts (B. Mus Oboe and English horn Performance degree granted 1983) lead me to accept a position teaching Elementary General Music classes to local youth on St. John, USVI, one of the United States' Possessions.

     After 10 years, moved to Big Island of Hawaii, and was a Substitute Teacher with Hawaii State Dept of Education and also Adjunct Professor at UH-Hilo's Na Pua No' Eau Center for Gifted and Talented Native Hawaiian Children. Serious responses to her music in Los Angeles and internationally she moved to Los Angeles. In late 1995, RENAISSANCE IN FORMATION was finished, her debut CD, "Renaissance In Formation".

     In 1996, she accepted a position to teach Kindergarten for Los Angeles Unified School District in the inner city of Los Angeles. In 1999, she completed a Masters of Science in Education in Instructional Leadership and returned in 2006 for a credential in Educational Administration. National University has recognized her as 35 Alumni to Watch in 35 Years in 2006.

     In 2014, she returned to the USVI to her former position as Elementary General Music Teacher. She has continued performing on her oboe and English horn and singing at community events. She has been featured at Sunrise Rotary Breakfast, Family Resource Peacemaker Gala on St. Thomas, VI and VI Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council, 1733 Slave Insurrection Commemorative Tour, Kwanzaa Celebration, St. John Cancer Fund Block Party and Light Up the Night Cancer Walk, Mongoose Junction Christmas Prom, Emancipation Day Commemoration, Veteran's Day Parade, Julius E. Sprauve School Gala, Women's March on Cruz Bay, as well as gigs with Reggae Guitarist Wayne Clendenin, Visions Reggae Combo and numerous open mic nights at Chester's Getaway and Cafe Concordia on St. John, VI. She continues to coordinate performances and speaking engagements for the students at Julius E. Sprauve School as well. She has served on the Black / Virgin Islands History Committee and has retained the late Mr. Oswin Sewer, Dr. Gilbert Sprauve, Delroy 'Ital' Anthony, Lincoln Liburd, Teshanne Phillips and most recently Guy Davis for enriching talks and performances for children. 

      In December 2016, her grant to start a Quelbe (Scratch) Band was approved by the Virgin Islands Community Foundation to fund an elementary ensemble to preserve the music indigenous to the Virgin Islands from the Anderson Grant For Teachers.

     She still keeps in touch with former students, teachers and fellow classmates. Some of her award-winning students include, Internationally Acclaimed Jazz Steel Pannist Victor Provost, Reggae Artist Exodus, Reggae Musicians Hollywood and Snooze of Inner Visions Band, Actor and Film Star Brummel Germain, Attorney Kyla Duncan, Motivational Speaker and Professor Sherman Browne and Motivation Speaker and Author Teshanne Phillips. Two of her former students have been named Teacher of the Year in their school districts.
